Our Natural Astaxanthin Extract, Bioavailability Enhanced

Asta-MPOWER™ is R&T’s premium liposomal astaxanthin ingredient, developed from natural astaxanthin derived from Haematococcus pluvialis and engineered to support improved dispersion, protection, and delivery. Astaxanthin is one of the most extensively studied carotenoids for antioxidant and healthy-ageing applications, yet its wider use is often limited by poor water dispersibility and sensitivity to light, oxygen, and heat. Asta-MPOWER™ addresses these formulation challenges through a phospholipid-based liposomal system, creating a more advanced and application-friendly astaxanthin solution.

Importantly, the astaxanthin oil resin used in Asta-MPOWER™ is supported by an Australian standard patent granted to R & T (Australia) Pty Ltd on 2 April 2026 for a “Method for Extracting High-Quality Astaxanthin Oil Resin from Haematococcus pluvialis.”

Key Features of Asta-MPOWER™

Key Features

  • Natural astaxanthin from Haematococcus pluvialis
  • Liposomal phospholipid delivery system designed to improve dispersion and protect the active compound
  • Australian patented extraction technology for high-quality astaxanthin oil resin
  • Enhanced formulation versatility for softgels, capsules, powders, liquids, and beauty-from-within concepts
  • Science-backed antioxidant and healthy-ageing positioning

Conventional astaxanthin is highly valued for its biological activity, but practical use can be constrained by instability and formulation limitations. Liposomal technology offers a smart delivery approach by surrounding astaxanthin with phospholipids, helping protect the carotenoid, improve dispersion, and support more effective interaction with biological membranes. Preclinical research has also shown that liposomal astaxanthin can exert stronger anti-inflammatory effects than free astaxanthin, reinforcing the value of phospholipid-based delivery. Asta-MPOWER™ adds a further point of difference through R&T’s Australian-patented extraction process, which is specifically directed to producing high-quality astaxanthin oil resin from Haematococcus pluvialis.

Science-Backed Health Benefits

Health Benefits Supported by Science

Asta-MPOWER™ offers broad market potential across antioxidant, beauty, eye health, cognition, and active nutrition categories, supported by the extensive research base on natural astaxanthin:

  • Antioxidant defence: Helps protect cells against oxidative stress and supports healthy ageing. [1,2]
  • Skin health and photoageing support: Helps maintain skin moisture, elasticity, and resilience against UV-related deterioration. [4,5,6]
  • Eye health and visual performance: Supports visual function and may help reduce visual fatigue associated with prolonged screen use. [7]
  • Cognitive health support: Astaxanthin-rich Haematococcus pluvialis extract has been studied for support of cognitive performance in healthy aged individuals. [8]
  • Exercise recovery and fatigue support: Human studies suggest benefits for post-exercise recovery and daily fatigue management. [9,10]
  • Healthy inflammatory balance: Astaxanthin has been widely investigated for its role in modulating oxidative and inflammatory pathways. [2,3]

Applications

Asta-MPOWER™ is suitable for a wide range of premium finished product concepts:

  • Nutraceutical supplements (softgels, capsules, tablets, powders)
  • Beauty-from-within and skin health formulas
  • Eye health and screen-ageing support products
